Mitchell Saron won Junior World Championships bronze and will end the season at No. 2 in the world! Saron added his name to an elite list of fencers on Saturday April 6th, 2019 as one of just seven U.S. men ever to have won an individual men’s saber medal at the Junior World Championships.
Also, Team USA returned for Junior World bronze in a spectacular comeback win over France, 45-42.
Seven days after winning his first individual Junior World Championship medal and five days after securing bronze in the team event in Torun, Poland, Saron became a National Champion, taking gold at the Division I National Championships in Salt Lake City.
The title marks Saron’s first Division I title on the North American Cup circuit (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and his first win since 2016 when hear earned gold as a cadet at the October NAC. Congratulations to Mitchell and Coach Oleg Stetsiv!
